Recal Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 13, 2026Recal helps you build a healthier relationship with your phone by allowing you to earn recreational screen time through movement.This Privacy Policy explains what information Recal processes, why it is used, and the choices available to you.Information You ProvideWhen you create or use a Recal account, we may process information you provide, such as:Account information used to create and authenticate your account, including information provided through Sign in with Apple.
Information you provide when contacting customer support.
Preferences and settings you choose within Recal.If you use Sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, Apple may provide Recal with a private relay email address instead of your personal email address.Health and Activity InformationWith your permission, Recal uses Apple HealthKit and related Apple APIs to access activity information needed to calculate screen time earned through movement, such as step information.Recal’s core activity calculations are designed to occur on your device.Recal does not use HealthKit information for advertising, sell HealthKit information, or provide HealthKit information to advertising platforms such as Meta.You can manage Recal’s access to health information through your iPhone’s privacy and Health settings.Screen Time and Family ControlsRecal uses Apple’s Screen Time, Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity technologies to let you select apps or categories and apply the limits you choose.Selections and Screen Time enforcement information required for this functionality are processed on your device using Apple’s frameworks.Recal does not send your selected restricted-app list or Screen Time usage history to Meta for advertising.Account and App InformationRecal may process limited information necessary to operate your account and the service, such as:Account identifiers

Subscription and entitlement status
App settings and preferences
Basic technical and diagnostic informationRecal is designed so that much of the core experience—including movement calculations and Screen Time enforcement—operates locally on your device.Subscriptions and PurchasesRecal offers optional paid subscriptions through Apple’s App Store.Apple processes payments. Recal does not receive your full payment card information.We use RevenueCat to help manage subscription status, purchases, entitlements, and purchase restoration. RevenueCat may process identifiers and purchase-related information necessary to provide these services.AnalyticsWe may use PostHog to understand how people interact with Recal and improve the app.Analytics may include information such as feature interactions, onboarding progress, app performance, and general usage events.We do not intentionally send HealthKit data, Screen Time selections, selected restricted apps, authentication credentials, or other sensitive Screen Time information to PostHog.Advertising and AttributionRecal may use Meta technologies to measure the effectiveness of advertising and understand how users discover Recal.Meta may receive limited device, attribution, or app-event information where permitted by your device settings and applicable law.Recal does not provide Meta with your HealthKit data, Screen Time selections, selected restricted apps, or Screen Time usage history for advertising.Where Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework requires permission, Recal will request permission before performing tracking that requires such consent.Service ProvidersWe use trusted service providers to operate Recal, including services for:Authentication and backend infrastructure
Subscription management
Analytics
Advertising measurement and attribution
App distribution and payment processingThese providers process information according to their respective roles and applicable terms.Current providers include Supabase, RevenueCat, PostHog, Meta, and Apple.Data SharingWe do not sell your personal information.We may share limited information with service providers when necessary to operate, secure, analyze, and improve Recal, or when required by law.We do not sell or use HealthKit information for advertising.Data RetentionWe retain account information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Recal, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.Some information processed locally on your device may remain until you remove the app, change permissions, or clear the applicable data.Third-party providers may retain limited records according to their own legal and operational requirements.Account DeletionYou can request deletion of your Recal account directly within the app.Deleting your Recal account removes the account information controlled by Recal that is associated with your account, subject to limited information we may be required to retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or financial recordkeeping purposes.Deleting your Recal account does not automatically cancel an Apple App Store subscription. Subscriptions can be managed through your Apple ID subscription settings.Your ChoicesYou can:Manage Health permissions through iOS.
